  • Machine and wheel components.

 

Practical:

  • Bench mounted grinder
  • Hand held electric driven grinder/disc cutter
  • Bench mounted cut-off saw
  • Hand held engine driven disc cutter.

 

Additional learning needs

Providers must make suitable provision to ensure an accurate assessment is carried out to the task in hand, rather than the learner’s abilities in other fields.

Instructors should be fully aware of the requirement to cross-check any learner’s additional learning needs identified through the training provider.

 

Additional information

To meet the requirements for the Highway Electrical Sector Academy’s (HESA) alternative training for hand held engine driven cut-off saw (Stihl saw; disc cutter), the learner must also be observed to:

  • Safely conduct at least one cut of stone
  • Safely conduct at least one cut of metal
  • Confirm that if a resinoid wheel is used with water, it will be destroyed at the end of the day.
